An Art Gallery on The Big River dedicated to Art of, by and for The People!
Dan’s career has seemed to center on searching, searching for a means of expression and at times a meaning for expressions. A search for meaning in the self and in personal imagery. Art begins in the self, influenced by the self’s particular realities. Dan’s art comes from his realities, how he views this world and passes through it.
Dan is a stone lithographer. His most recent works concern the nude. Previous work has concerned sculpture and the three-dimensional. Prior to his retirement, he was a construction worker and previous work incorporated imagery based on construction steel and cable imagery. Pieces in this show represent this period.
Dan received his professional training at the Art Students League in New York City and at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. In New York, Dan was the Resident Printer and later became a Guest Artist Printer in New Mexico. Dan has shown his work in several shows in Alaska, Wisconsin and Minnesota. He was also part of the Bluff County Art Tour in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
Dan currently lives in Winona where he has a studio with its centerpiece being the printing press that he built.
